Preparations finalized for new MPs’ oath ceremony
Kathmandu – Preparations for the oath-taking ceremony of newly elected lawmakers, scheduled for Chaitra 12, have been completed by the Federal Parliament Secretariat.
The ceremony is set to be held at the Federal Parliament Building in Singha Durbar. To ensure the event is conducted in an orderly manner, final-stage preparations have been completed, including hall management, technical inspection of equipment, and cleaning arrangements.
While briefing journalists in Singha Durbar on Tuesday about the current status of preparations at the Parliament building, the Secretariat stated that all necessary arrangements have been made at the multipurpose hall for both the oath-taking ceremony and the initial parliamentary meeting.
According to the Secretariat, the initial sessions of the House of Representatives will be held in the multipurpose hall, as the main chamber is still under construction. “Arrangements are being made for seating, the rostrum, the Speaker’s chair, and designated spaces for the Secretary General, secretaries, and Secretariat officials,” said Federal Parliament spokesperson Ekram Giri.
The Secretariat said all essential preparations have reached the final stage to ensure the ceremony is conducted in a dignified, systematic, and effective manner. Special attention has been given to sound systems, lighting, and seating management.
The newly elected lawmakers are scheduled to take the oath of office and secrecy on the same day. With the oath-taking ceremony, the formal term of the new House of Representatives is set to begin.
