Kathmandu – Prime International Fashion Institute (PIFI) has officially started operations with the aim of providing international-standard fashion education in Nepal. The institute has formally begun classes at USM Complex in Hattisar, Kathmandu.

PIFI was established by fashion designer and founder Rajesh Dhakwa, combining his more than 28 years of professional experience in Nepal’s fashion industry with over 25 years of academic experience from Prime College. The institute aims to provide practical, creative and industry-focused fashion education.
The institute seeks to connect fashion education directly with Nepal’s fashion industry while creating new opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship and helping students become self-reliant.

Students completing a three-month introductory course at PIFI will have the opportunity to pursue further studies at Bunka Fashion School, Bangkok, Thailand, according to the institute.
Dhakwa, founder and executive chairman of PIFI, is also the founding chairman of Fashion Designer Center Nepal (FDC Nepal). He serves as the official representative and program coordinator of Bunka Fashion School in Nepal.
According to PIFI, Bunka Fashion School, Bangkok is the first chain fashion school in Southeast Asia associated with the prestigious Bunka Fashion College, which was established in Japan in 1923.
The institute believes that its international collaboration will help connect Nepal’s fashion education and industry with global networks and expose students to international opportunities.
Dhakwa said fashion education should combine creativity with practical knowledge of design, production and the market. He added that PIFI will help young people understand the fashion industry and build their own identity as professional designers.
