Kathmandu: Prime Minister Balendra Shah on Thursday conducted an on-site inspection of Bidur and surrounding flood-affected areas in Nuwakot, assessing damage caused by recent flooding and directing authorities to speed up relief and recovery efforts.
Prime Minister Shah left Kathmandu by road at around 9:30 am, accompanied by Infrastructure Development Minister Sunil Lamsal, and visited several affected settlements before returning to the capital later in the day.
The visit came a day after severe flooding flowing through Bhotekoshi in Rasuwa caused extensive damage along riverbank areas. Following the disaster, the Prime Minister had convened high-level meetings and instructed concerned agencies to strengthen rescue, relief and emergency response operations.
During the field visit, the Prime Minister’s team reviewed damage to homes, roads and other infrastructure and held discussions with local administration officials, security agencies and elected representatives about the situation on the ground.
Prime Minister Shah directed authorities to provide immediate relief to displaced families, restore blocked roads and damaged infrastructure as quickly as possible, and accelerate long-term rehabilitation and reconstruction work.
After completing the inspection and issuing necessary instructions to concerned agencies, the Prime Minister and his team returned to Kathmandu later the same day.
