Progress on bringing PayPal to Nepal intensifies

Efforts to bring the American online payment service provider PayPal to Nepal are making significant progress, with the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) taking an active role in the initiative.

The Nepal Rastra Bank is working closely with Standard Chartered Bank and the local payment service provider Fonepay to facilitate PayPal’s entry into the Nepali market. These collaborations aim to address the necessary regulatory and technical requirements.

If successful, the introduction of PayPal is expected to enhance digital transactions in Nepal, benefiting businesses, freelancers, and individuals by providing easier access to international payment services.
