Raju Karki transforms Kushma into an adventure tourism hub with ‘The Cliff’
Raju Karki, a native of Sindhupalchok, has put Nepal on the global adventure tourism map with his daring venture, “The Cliff,” in Kushma, Parbat. The facility, which started as a bungee jump site over the Kali Gandaki River, has rapidly expanded into a premier adventure destination. The Cliff now boasts the world’s tallest swing, the second-highest bungee jump, and Nepal’s first sky surfing experience, among other attractions. Karki’s investment has grown from an initial 15 crores to over 60 crores, creating more than 100 jobs and positioning Kusma as a significant adventure tourism hub.
Karki’s journey began as a bungee instructor at The Last Resort in Bhote Koshi, but his ambition led him to establish his own site in Kushma. After a two-year struggle to secure public land for his project, he eventually built his own bridge to host the activities, marking the birth of The Cliff. This development has brought a surge in both domestic and international tourists, significantly boosting the local economy and transforming Kushma’s identity from a transit point to a destination in its own right.
