Kathmandu – Sajha Yatayat has purchased five electric microbuses in collaboration with Lalitpur Metropolitan City.
The microbuses are 16-seater King Long electric vehicles. CG Motors, the official distributor of King Long in Nepal, handed over the five electric microbuses to Sajha Yatayat on Thursday.
Both Sajha Yatayat and Lalitpur Metropolitan City have invested in the purchase, although the investment amount has not been disclosed.
Sajha Yatayat Chief Executive Officer Bhupendra Aryal confirmed that the five electric microbuses were purchased in partnership with Lalitpur Metropolitan City.
According to Aryal, the microbuses have been purchased for operation within Lalitpur Metropolitan City. The routes will be finalized in coordination with the metropolitan city. Sajha plans to bring the microbuses into operation before Dashain.
“We have purchased five electric microbuses through a joint investment by Lalitpur Metropolitan City and Sajha Yatayat. These microbuses will operate on various routes within Lalitpur Metropolitan City. We plan to put them into operation before Dashain,” Aryal said.
Sajha Yatayat has been prioritizing electric vehicles as part of its efforts to promote clean, environmentally friendly and affordable public transportation. The company currently operates 40 electric buses in the Kathmandu Valley.
Established in 1961 (2018 BS), Sajha Yatayat currently provides long-distance bus services in Kathmandu Valley as well as destinations outside the valley, including Myagdi, Baglung and Pokhara.
Sajha Yatayat has investment from the federal government, Kathmandu Metropolitan City and Lalitpur Metropolitan City, among others.
