Strong windstorm expected across several provinces from this Afternoon, Weather department warns

Kathmandu: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Weather Forecasting Division, has updated its forecast regarding the timing and affected areas of an upcoming strong windstorm in Nepal.
In a special bulletin issued at 8 AM today, the department stated that the windstorm is expected to begin from 4 PM this afternoon. Several districts across different provinces are likely to be affected.
In the Sudurpaschim Province, districts including Kanchanpur, Dadeldhura, and Doti, along with surrounding areas, are expected to experience the impact of the storm.
Similarly, in Lumbini Province, districts such as Bardiya, Banke, Dang, Arghakhanchi, and Nawalparasi, along with nearby areas, are also likely to be affected.
In Gandaki Province, Nawalpur, and in Bagmati Province, Chitwan and surrounding districts may also face strong winds. In Madhesh Province, districts including Bara, Parsa, and Dhanusha are at risk, while in Koshi Province, Jhapa and Morang are also expected to experience severe wind conditions.
The department has revised the timing of the storm, stating that the strong wind is now expected to start at 4 PM today and continue until 6:45 AM tomorrow.
Earlier, the department had forecast the windstorm to begin at 5:45 PM on Baisakh 16 and end at 7:45 AM on Baisakh 17.
According to the updated bulletin, the system is also likely to bring thunderstorms, lightning, and hailstorms as it moves from west to east.
The department has urged the public to remain alert as the weather system may affect many parts of the country.
