Tata Punch EV Facelift set for Nepal debut at NAIMA Mobility Expo 2026

KATHMANDU: Tata Motors is preparing to introduce the facelifted Tata Punch EV in Nepal at the NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2026, marking the first major update to the brand’s compact electric SUV since its original launch. The refreshed model brings a larger battery, improved performance, enhanced charging capabilities, updated styling, and new technology aimed at making the EV more practical for everyday driving.

The biggest upgrade comes under the hood, where the Punch EV facelift replaces the previous 35 kWh battery with a 40 kWh battery pack for the Nepalese market. Paired with a front-mounted electric motor, the new setup produces 129 hp and 154 Nm of torque, delivering improved efficiency and stronger performance.

According to Tata Motors, the updated battery offers an ARAI-certified driving range of 468 km, while the estimated real-world range stands at around 355 km, making the vehicle better suited for both city commuting and longer journeys. The electric SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under nine seconds and features three selectable driving modes—City, Eco, and Sport—along with four adjustable regenerative braking levels controlled through paddle shifters.

Charging performance has also been enhanced. Using a 65 kW DC fast charger, the Punch EV facelift can recharge its battery from 20 percent to 80 percent in approximately 26 minutes. Tata also claims that a 15-minute charging session can provide up to 135 km of driving range, thanks to an updated battery management system, improved thermal control, and a more efficient powertrain design.

On the outside, the facelift adopts a cleaner and more contemporary appearance inspired by the latest internal combustion (ICE) Punch. Exterior updates include a redesigned front bumper, a closed-off front grille, newly styled 16-inch alloy wheels, refreshed colour options, and connected LED tail lamps. The SUV retains its 195 mm ground clearance and 450 mm water-wading capability, maintaining its suitability for diverse road conditions.

Inside the cabin, the overall layout remains familiar but receives updated materials and finishes. Higher variants are equipped with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a matching 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster. Depending on the variant, customers can also expect features such as wireless phone charging, ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, connected car technology, and a 360-degree camera.

Safety has also been strengthened, with six airbags offered as standard across the lineup. Additional safety features include Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill Hold Assist, a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), High Beam Assist, and ISOFIX child-seat anchors.

With its larger battery, faster charging, updated design, and expanded list of technology and safety features, the Tata Punch EV facelift is expected to further strengthen Tata Motors’ electric vehicle lineup in Nepal. The company is expected to announce the SUV’s official pricing and market availability during its launch at the NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2026.
