Thousands Join Grand Jagannath Rath Yatra Festival in Kathmandu
Kathmandu- The historic Shree Jagannath Rath Yatra Mahamahotsav was celebrated with great enthusiasm in Kathmandu on Thursday, drawing thousands of devotees in a vibrant display of faith, devotion, and cultural diversity.The grand procession was organized by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) Nepal.
Devotees from across the country gathered to participate in the annual chariot festival, which featured traditional chants, devotional music, and religious ceremonies as the chariot of Lord Jagannath was pulled through the capital’s major streets.
The procession began at Kamaladi and passed through Ghantaghar, Durbar Marg, Putalisadak, Pradarshani Marg, Bhadrakali, Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC), New Road, and Basantapur before returning via New Road to conclude at Tundikhel.
The Rath Yatra is one of the most significant festivals in the Vaishnav tradition and symbolizes Lord Jagannath’s annual journey among his devotees, promoting the message of peace, unity, and devotion.
