Nepali Army Appeals for Calm as Prohibitory Orders and Curfew Extended Nationwide
Kathmandu — The Nepali Army has appealed to all citizens to cooperate with ongoing prohibitory orders and curfew measures as the country faces continued unrest and security challenges.
In an official statement issued on Wednesday, the Army expressed gratitude to the public for their support in maintaining peace and order during the current crisis. It also extended condolences for the loss of lives and property that have occurred during recent protests and disturbances.
According to the notice, the existing prohibitory order will remain in force across the country until 5:00 PM today, September 10, 2025 (Bhadra 25, 2082). Following that, a curfew will be enforced nationwide from 6:00 AM tomorrow, September 11 (Bhadra 26, 2082). The Army confirmed that further updates would be shared based on the evolving situation.
The statement highlighted grave concerns over reports of anarchic groups infiltrating protests to carry out acts of vandalism, arson, looting, violent assaults, and even attempted sexual violence. The Army stressed that such actions directly threaten national peace and security and warned that security forces will treat these incidents as punishable crimes, taking strict action against perpetrators.
During the prohibitory order and curfew, essential service vehicles, including ambulances, hearse vans, fire trucks, and vehicles used by health workers and security personnel, will be allowed to operate. The public has been urged to coordinate with nearby security officials if they face difficulties in movement for essential purposes.
The Army also appealed to all retired personnel, government employees, media workers, and citizens not to believe or spread rumors but to rely only on official information channels.
“National unity and social harmony must be preserved at all costs,” the statement read. “The Nepali Army is confident that citizens will continue to fulfill their responsibilities to maintain normalcy in daily life. Regardless of the circumstances, the Army remains committed to protecting all Nepalis and conducting humanitarian rescue operations whenever required.”
