Chaudhary Group and Bikaji Foods Begin Construction of New Snacks Factory in Nawalparasi
Chaudhary Group (CG), Nepal’s largest business conglomerate, has officially laid the foundation for a new snacks manufacturing plant in partnership with India’s Bikaji Foods International. The groundbreaking ceremony, held at the CG Industrial Park in Nawalparasi, marks a major step toward strengthening Nepal’s processed food industry and attracting foreign investment.
The first phase of the project involves an investment of NRs 50 crore (approximately Rs. 500 million) and is expected to create around 400 jobs across Nepal. The new factory will produce popular Indian-style snacks such as Bhujiya and Namkeen, introducing internationally recognized products to the Nepali market and contributing to import substitution.
CG Managing Director Varun Chaudhary laid the foundation stone during the ceremony, attended by local representatives, government officials, and senior executives from both CG and Bikaji Foods. CG Chairman Binod Chaudhary, Nepal’s first billionaire and the country’s most prominent industrialist, was also present at the event.
Speaking at the ceremony, Varun Chaudhary emphasized the importance of the investment at a time when Nepal’s economy is seeking renewed momentum. “At a time when Nepal’s economy requires new vitality, we are investing in a novel sector. This reaffirms our long-term commitment to Nepal and its people,” he stated. He added that the new factory would stimulate rural industrial growth in Nawalparasi and surrounding areas by creating employment and supporting local supply chains.
The announcement comes shortly after challenging times for the Chaudhary Group, which faced vandalism incidents targeting CG Electronics and the private residence of Chairman Binod Chaudhary. Despite such setbacks, the group’s leadership has reiterated its firm commitment to Nepal’s industrial development. In fact, just weeks after the incident, CG announced the acquisition of a multinational company, signaling its continued confidence in the country’s economic potential.
The collaboration with Bikaji Foods, one of India’s most respected snack manufacturers, is expected to bring advanced technology, production expertise, and global standards to Nepal’s food sector. Both companies expressed optimism that the partnership will help modernize Nepal’s manufacturing capabilities while reducing dependency on imported packaged foods.
CG Foods, the food division of Chaudhary Group, already exports its products to 63 countries and is best known for its iconic Wai Wai noodles. With the addition of Bikaji’s product line, CG aims to diversify its portfolio further and promote innovation in Nepal’s growing food processing industry.
Through this strategic partnership, Chaudhary Group seeks not only to expand its business footprint but also to contribute to national economic revitalization by fostering local industries, generating employment, and promoting Nepal as an emerging hub for regional food production.
