Kathmandu – An art exhibition and artist talk titled “Colours of Pakistan through the Brush of a Nepali Artist” was organised by the Pakistan Embassy in Kathmandu on January 28, 2026, at the embassy premises, with a focus on strengthening cultural exchange between Pakistan and Nepal.
The exhibition featured artworks by renowned Nepali artist Ms. Bidhata KC, inspired by her artistic journey and experiences in Pakistan under the Artist Residency Program for South Asian Countries.
A wide cross-section of art lovers, cultural practitioners, civil society representatives, media professionals, social media influencers, and members of the diplomatic community was reported to have attended the event. The strong turnout was seen as a reflection of growing interest in people-to-people connectivity and cultural diplomacy between the two neighbouring countries.
During the programme, the artist shared insights from her travels across various regions of Pakistan, which were said to have shaped her creative expression. Through her paintings, Pakistan’s landscapes, heritage, and cultural diversity were visually portrayed. Gratitude was expressed by Ms. KC to the Government of Pakistan and the Pakistan Embassy in Kathmandu for facilitating her participation in the residency programme, while appreciation was also extended for the country’s artistic traditions and hospitality.
Addressing the gathering, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Nepal, H.E. Mr. Abrar Hashmi, was quoted as praising the artist’s work and her thoughtful interpretation of Pakistan through a Nepali perspective. It was emphasised that cultural diplomacy remains a key pillar of Pakistan–Nepal relations, with continued efforts pledged to promote shared history, culture, and mutual understanding.
The initiative taken by the Pakistan Embassy to organise the exhibition was also appreciated by attendees, who lauded the artistic quality and cultural depth reflected in the showcased works.
On the occasion, it was further announced that the Pakistan Food Festival is scheduled to be held in Kathmandu from February 5 to 7, 2026, offering the Nepali public another platform to experience Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage and culinary traditions.
