Kathmandu – Mountain Lodges of Nepal (MLN) in Manang has been named one of TIME magazine’s World’s Greatest Places of 2026, becoming the only property from Nepal to be featured on the prestigious annual list of 100 global destinations.
Describing the recognition as a proud moment for Nepal, Mountain Lodges of Nepal said the listing marks a major milestone for the country’s hospitality sector. The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) also welcomed the achievement and said it was delighted to see MLN Manang included in TIME’s globally recognized selection.
In its feature, TIME described the 14-room stone-built lodge as a symbol of how Manang is no longer limited to hardcore trekkers alone. Located above the Marsyangdi River valley at an altitude of 11,312 feet along the Annapurna Circuit, the lodge offers floor-to-ceiling views of the Annapurna range, along with heated beds and modern comforts, making it the first upscale accommodation in the region.
The publication also highlighted the lodge’s proximity to Manang village, the 600-year-old Braga Monastery, glacial lakes, and sacred meditation caves. Its winter appeal was also noted, with the area regarded as one of Nepal’s best destinations for snow leopard sightings.
Manang can now be reached by an approximately 10-hour drive from Kathmandu or by a short helicopter flight from Pokhara, making the destination more accessible to a wider range of travelers.
MLN Manang joins an international list that includes properties from China, India, Kenya, Bhutan, South Africa, Morocco, and the United States, among other countries.
TIME prepares its annual list through nominations from its international network of correspondents and contributors, selecting destinations that offer new and culturally relevant travel experiences.
