Nepal tourism promotion program in Japan boosts travel ties, strengthens market presence
Kathmandu- The Tourism Promotion and B2B Exchange Program held in Tokyo on April 2 and Osaka on April 5, 2026, concluded successfully, marking a significant step in strengthening Nepal’s presence in the Japanese travel market.
Jointly organized by the Nepal Tourism Board, Nepal Airlines Corporation, and PATA Nepal Chapter, the program aimed to promote Nepal as a premier travel destination while fostering deeper collaboration between Nepali and Japanese travel industries.
The initiative brought together key stakeholders, including Japanese tour operators, travel agencies, and media representatives, creating a dynamic platform for networking and business-to-business engagement. Nepali travel trade representatives showcased a wide range of tourism products and services, highlighting Nepal’s unique offerings.
During the Tokyo event, Deputy Chief of Mission Harihar Kanta Poudel emphasized the importance of such international promotional efforts in boosting Nepal’s tourism sector. A comprehensive destination presentation was delivered by Ranu Shah, Senior Manager, who highlighted Nepal’s rich cultural heritage, iconic landmarks, adventure tourism, and wellness experiences.

Additionally, Nepal Airlines Corporation presented updates on its fleet and connectivity, providing valuable insights into improved travel access for international visitors.
The program successfully positioned Nepal as a safe, diverse, and year-round destination, enhancing its brand image in the competitive global tourism market. It is expected to contribute to increased tourist arrivals from Japan and encourage the development of tailored travel packages catering specifically to Japanese travelers.
Participating Nepali travel trade companies included Heritage Tours and Travels, Alpine Rescue Services, Club Himalaya, Himalayan Holidays Trekking, High Ground Adventure, Arya Hotel and Spa, Real Adventure Nepal, Hotel Jampa, Majestic Lakefront, Khumbila Hotel, Off the Wall Trekking, and Cho Oyu Trekking.
Overall, the program reflected a strong, unified effort to expand Nepal’s tourism market reach, build strategic partnerships, and establish Nepal as a preferred destination among Japanese travelers.
