Electric Vehicles worth Rs 18.93 Billion imported to Nepal from China
Kathmandu-Electric vehicles worth Rs 18.93 billion have entered Nepal through the Kerung-Tatopani trade route between Nepal and China. According to the Tatopani Customs Office, a total of 7,492 EVs were imported into Kathmandu over the past two fiscal years.
The government collected Rs 10.45 billion in revenue from these imports, customs officer Ramesh Bahadur Shah said, according to Gorkhapatra Online.By the end of Falgun in the current fiscal year 2082/83, Nepal imported 34 minibuses with 15-25 seats, 479 microbuses with 11–14 seats, 350 electric cars, jeeps, and vans above 50 kilowatts, 934 vehicles in the 51–100 kilowatt category, and 180 vehicles in the 101–200 kilowatt range.In addition, four vehicles in the 201–300 kilowatt category, one car above 300 kilowatts, three 2,000cc vehicles, two five-ton trucks, six three-wheelers, 104 four-wheelers, five delivery vans, and one other electric vehicle were also imported during the current fiscal year.
Similarly, in fiscal year 2081/82, Nepal imported one electric bus with a propulsion motor, 251 minibuses with 15–20 seats, 809 microbuses with 11-14 seats, 888 electric cars, jeeps, and vans under 50 kilowatts, 781 vehicles in the 51-100 kilowatt category, and 486 vehicles in the 101–200 kilowatt range.The imports also included 12 vehicles in the 201–300 kilowatt category, one car above 300 kilowatts, 18 double-cab pickup trucks with 2,000cc capacity, four 20-ton trucks, and 118 four-wheel electric vehicles.The customs office stated that the import of electric vehicles from China has increased significantly during the current fiscal year.
