Kami Rita Sherpa Sets Record With 32nd Everest Summit
Kathmandu — Legendary Nepali climber Kami Rita Sherpa has once again made history by successfully climbing Mount Everest for the 32nd time on May 17, 2026. The 56-year-old mountaineer reached the summit at 10:12 AM, further extending his own world record for the highest number of successful Everest ascents.
Widely known as “The Everest Man,” Kami Rita began his Everest journey in 1994 and has since become a global symbol of courage, experience, and dedication in high-altitude mountaineering. His latest achievement is a proud moment for Nepal and further strengthens his legacy as one of the greatest climbers in the world.
Similarly, renowned climber Lhakpa Sherpa, popularly known as the “Mountain Queen,” successfully summited Mount Everest for the 11th time at 9:30 AM today, setting a world record for the highest number of Everest ascents by a female climber. Born in 1973 in Makalu-2, Sankhuwasabha, Lhakpa Sherpa has once again added a historic milestone to Nepal’s mountaineering legacy through her remarkable achievement.
