Regular Pokhara-Jomsom air services suspended for Monsoon Season
Pokhara-Regular flights between Pokhara and Jomsom have been suspended as private airlines temporarily halt operations on the route for the monsoon season.Private carriers Tara Air and Summit Air have announced the suspension of their regular Pokhara-Jomsom flights for approximately three months, citing adverse weather conditions and the tourism off-season.
According to Deepak Pokharel, Chief of the Jomsom Civil Aviation Office, the suspension is primarily due to the monsoon season, unfavorable weather, and a decline in tourist arrivals during this period. The Jomsom Civil Aviation Office stated that the temporary suspension of flights during the winter and monsoon seasons is a regular annual practice, as weather conditions often make operations on the mountain route challenging.
While scheduled commercial flights have been halted, the office clarified that emergency charter flights and helicopter services will continue to operate as needed. The Pokhara–Jomsom route is one of Nepal’s key mountain air corridors, serving tourists, pilgrims, and local residents traveling to and from the Mustang region.
