Uber Officially Launches in Nepal, Bringing Global Ride-Sharing Services to Kathmandu
Kathmandu – Global ride-sharing giant Uber has officially launched its services in Nepal, marking a significant milestone in the country’s urban mobility and digital transportation sector.
The announcement was made during a formal event in Kathmandu attended by senior government officials. Government officials welcomed Uber’s entry into the market, saying the ride-hailing platform could boost competition and help improve service standards across the transport sector. 
Uber has introduced three services in Nepal:
🚗 Uber Go
🚙 Uber Comfort
🏍️ Uber Bike
With this launch, Nepal becomes Uber’s 11th market in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region and the first new market in South Asia that Uber has entered in over a decade. The move highlights Nepal’s growing digital economy, expanding tourism industry, and increasing demand for reliable urban transportation.
Uber’s Regional General Manager for APAC Rides, Dominic Taylor, described Nepal as a dynamic and fast-evolving market with strong growth potential. Government officials welcomed Uber’s entry, stating that the platform will enhance tourism, improve urban mobility, create employment opportunities, and strengthen Nepal’s position as an attractive destination for international investment.
Ramkrishna Lamichhane, Director General of the Department of Tourism, said enhanced transport connectivity is key to strengthening the tourism industry and improving visitors’ overall travel experience.
Operating in more than 70 countries worldwide, Uber now connects Nepal to its global mobility network, allowing both locals and international travelers to use the same trusted platform for seamless transportation services.
