175 Chinese Tourists Arrive in Nepal on Direct Shenzhen–Kathmandu Flight, Opening a New Chapter for Tourism Promotion
Kathmandu – A total of 175 Chinese tourists arrived in Nepal on Friday aboard a direct flight operated by Himalaya Airlines from Shenzhen, China, marking a significant milestone in strengthening tourism connectivity between Nepal and China.
The visitors, who are on a week-long tour of Nepal, were warmly welcomed at Tribhuvan International Airport by Nepal Panda International Travels. The reception featured traditional Nepali attire, cultural performances, and musical presentations that showcased Nepal’s rich heritage and hospitality.
During their stay, the tourists are expected to visit several cultural, religious, and natural attractions, including UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the Kathmandu Valley and other popular destinations across the country.
On the occasion, Nepal Panda International Travels announced the launch of a special twice-weekly charter flight service linking Shenzhen and Kathmandu in partnership with Himalaya Airlines. The charter service will operate every Tuesday and Friday, providing a new direct air connection between the two cities.
According to the company, the service officially commenced on June 5, 2026, and is expected to enhance bilateral tourism, trade, and people-to-people exchanges between Nepal and China.
Tourism stakeholders believe the direct air link from Shenzhen—one of China’s leading economic and technology hubs—will help attract high-value tourists, business travelers, and professionals from the technology sector, creating new opportunities for Nepal’s tourism industry.
Industry experts also view the new route as a positive development for Nepal’s hospitality, aviation, and service sectors, with the potential to generate increased economic activity and strengthen ongoing tourism promotion efforts. The growing influx of Chinese visitors is expected to provide additional momentum to Nepal’s broader tourism development initiatives.
