Foreign Minister Khanal holds bilateral talks with Chinese counterpart Wang Yi
Kathmandu-Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal, who is on a four-day official visit to China, held delegation-level bilateral talks with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, in Beijing on Monday.
According to Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the discussions covered various dimensions of Nepal-China relations, with both sides exchanging views on connectivity, border management, trade, technology transfer and multilateral cooperation.
Following the meeting, Minister Khanal said in a post on X that Nepal and China had reaffirmed their shared commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties for mutual benefit.
Khanal also met Liu Haixing, head of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. The talks focused on expanding cooperation while upholding mutual respect and recognizing each other’s priorities and sensitivities. The two sides discussed collaboration in a number of sectors, including infrastructure, connectivity, border management, energy, trade, investment, agriculture, technology transfer, information technology and digitalization, tourism, chemical fertilizers, petroleum and natural gas exploration, and people-to-people exchanges.
During the meetings, the Nepali side reiterated the government’s firm commitment to the One China policy and assured that Nepal’s territory would not be used for any activities against China.Foreign Minister Khanal arrived in Beijing on Sunday at the invitation of Wang Yi, China’s Foreign Minister and a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China. He is scheduled to conclude his visit and return to Nepal on Wednesday.
