CAN Federation, HISSAN Launch Nationwide ‘AI for Educators’ Campaign Across Nepal
Kathmandu-In a major step toward advancing digital education in Nepal, the Computer Association of Nepal (CAN Federation) and the Higher Institutions and Secondary Schools’ Association Nepal (HISSAN) have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly launch a nationwide “AI for Educators” campaign across all seven provinces. Under the agreement, HISSAN has also joined CAN Federation as its official Sustainability Partner, marking a new chapter in collaboration between Nepal’s technology and education sectors.
The nationwide initiative aims to equip teachers with practical knowledge and skills in artificial intelligence (AI), digital transformation, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies, enabling them to prepare students for a rapidly evolving digital future. The campaign seeks to shift Nepal’s education system from producing passive technology consumers to nurturing innovators and creators by first strengthening the digital capabilities of educators. The concept and technical framework for the campaign were developed by CAN Federation Acting President Chiranjibi Adhikari.

The partnership is built around three key objectives: nationwide teacher capacity building through hands-on AI and digital literacy workshops; assessment and enhancement of ICT infrastructure, including secure communication networks, data automation systems and cloud ecosystems in HISSAN-affiliated institutions; and curriculum modernization through the integration of prompt engineering, AI-powered teaching material development, digital safety, cybersecurity fundamentals, academic integrity and ethical AI usage.
Under the implementation framework, CAN Federation will mobilize its network of provincial and district chapters and deploy specialized technical partners to deliver high-quality training programs. HISSAN, meanwhile, will coordinate with its member institutions and provide the necessary infrastructure, including computer laboratories and high-speed internet facilities at provincial training centers.
Speaking on the occasion, Chiranjibi Adhikari said that real digital transformation begins in classrooms and that empowering teachers with modern skills such as AI, data science and digital safety will help cultivate the next generation of Nepali technology innovators. HISSAN Central President Yuvraj Sharma described the agreement as a significant milestone that will help build a resilient digital ecosystem and strengthen the competitiveness of Nepal’s students and educational institutions in the global marketplace.
The MoU was formally signed by Chiranjibi Adhikari and Yuvraj Sharma in the presence of senior representatives from both organizations, including Chandra Bilas Bhurtel, Vikram Singh, Ramhari Silwal and Raj Kumar Acharya. The collaboration is expected to strengthen Nepal’s academic ecosystem and better prepare secondary and higher secondary institutions for the demands of the global digital economy.
