Chitwan National Park suspends Jeep Safari during Monsoon Season
Chitwan: Chitwan National Park has suspended commercial jeep safari services inside the park from today due to monsoon-related safety risks.
According to the park, heavy rainfall during the monsoon season often causes flooding in streams, fallen trees, muddy and damaged forest roads, making safari operations unsafe and difficult for visitors. Park officials said the suspension has also been made because the monsoon period is an important breeding season for many wild animals and birds.
Chitwan National Park follows this practice every year during the rainy season. The safari service is usually resumed around the Dashain period, depending on weather conditions and the repair of damaged forest roads.
Although jeep safari services inside the national park have been stopped, safari activities in surrounding community forests will continue. Commercial jeep safaris normally operate from major tourist areas including Sauraha, Kasara, Meghauli, Madi and Nawalparasi, helping visitors explore the park’s wildlife and natural beauty.
The temporary suspension is expected to affect tourists and safari operators, but park officials say the move is necessary for visitor safety, road protection and wildlife conservation during the sensitive monsoon season.
