Sajha Yatayat plans Blue Bus Service for Women Passengers
Kathmandu: Sajha Yatayat is preparing to introduce a new blue bus service focused on women passengers, but the plan is still in process and has not yet received final confirmation for regular operation.
According to Sajha Yatayat officials, the proposed blue Sajha bus service is being developed as a special public transport initiative for women. A related government notice has already been published, but the next step depends on further official decisions and budget approval from the government.
Sajha Yatayat is largely funded by the government, with around 98.8 percent government investment, making the project closely linked with government planning and budget decisions. Officials said the service cannot move into regular operation until the required budget is passed.
A Sajha Yatayat official said that once the budget is approved, it could take around 25 to 30 days to prepare the blue buses and bring them into normal operation. However, the launch date has not been officially confirmed yet.
The planned women-focused blue bus service is expected to support safer, more accessible and more comfortable public transportation for women passengers in Kathmandu Valley. Sajha Yatayat has said further details will be shared after the official process is completed.
