FIFA World Cup 2026 Quarter-Finals Kick Off Tonight with Four Blockbuster Showdowns
Kathmandu – The quarter-finals of the FIFA World Cup 2026 begin tonight, with eight nations competing for the remaining four spots in the tournament’s semi-finals.
The last-eight stage will feature four exciting fixtures: France vs Morocco, Spain vs Belgium, Norway vs England, and Argentina vs Switzerland.
The opening quarter-final will see France take on Morocco tonight at 1:45 a.m. (Nepal time). The match is a repeat of the 2022 FIFA World Cup semi-final in Qatar, where France secured a 2-0 victory over Morocco to reach their second consecutive World Cup final.
The second quarter-final will be played on Friday at 12:45 a.m. (Nepal time), with 2010 champions Spain facing Belgium. Spain have reached the World Cup quarter-finals for the first time in 16 years, while Belgium are making their first appearance in the last eight since 2018. Spain are aiming to return to the latter stages of the tournament after lifting their only World Cup title in South Africa in 2010. Belgium, who finished fourth in 2018, were eliminated in the group stage of the 2022 tournament.
The third quarter-final will take place on Saturday at 2:45 a.m. (Nepal time) as Norway face England in their first-ever World Cup meeting. Norway have reached the quarter-finals for the first time in their history after stunning Brazil in the Round of 16. The Scandinavian nation returned to the World Cup after a 28-year absence and now face 1966 champions England, who are still chasing their first World Cup final appearance since lifting the trophy six decades ago.
The final quarter-final is scheduled for Sunday at 6:45 a.m. (Nepal time), with defending champions Argentina taking on Switzerland.
Argentina, appearing in their 19th FIFA World Cup, have reached six finals and won the title three times. Switzerland, meanwhile, have advanced to the World Cup quarter-finals for the first time since the 1954 tournament and will be hoping to continue their remarkable run against the reigning champions.
With a mix of former champions, emerging contenders and historic firsts, the FIFA World Cup 2026 quarter-finals promise to deliver four high-stakes encounters as the race for football’s biggest prize intensifies.
