Nepal Showcases Investment Potential at Nepal-UAE Economic Partnership Programme in Abu Dhabi
Kathmandu-Nepal has highlighted its investment potential and called for stronger economic collaboration with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) during the “Nepal–UAE Economic Partnership” programme organized by the Embassy of Nepal in Abu Dhabi.
According to a press release issued by the Embassy, the event was held on 9 July 2026 at the Conrad Hotel, Etihad Towers, Abu Dhabi, with the objective of promoting Nepal as an attractive destination for trade, investment, tourism, technology, and business cooperation while further strengthening bilateral economic ties between Nepal and the UAE.

The programme began with a message from Nepal’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Shisir Khanal, who welcomed greater participation of UAE investors and businesses in Nepal’s priority sectors. In his message, the Foreign Minister reaffirmed the Government of Nepal’s commitment to facilitating long-term and mutually beneficial economic partnerships.
The event was attended by senior officials from the UAE Government, policymakers, chief executives of leading business enterprises, investors, entrepreneurs, and representatives of the Abu Dhabi business community. Among the distinguished guests were H.E. Fahad Al Gergawi, Under Secretary of the UAE Ministry of Foreign Trade, and H.E. Juma Mohammed Al Kait, Advisor to the UAE Minister for Economy and Tourism and Treasurer of the Abu Dhabi Chamber.

Delivering the keynote address, Nepal’s Ambassador to the UAE, H.E. Tej Bahadur Chhetri, highlighted the long-standing friendship between Nepal and the UAE and emphasized the significant opportunities for expanding bilateral economic cooperation.
Ambassador Chhetri underscored Nepal’s favorable investment climate, ongoing economic reforms, and growing opportunities in sectors including clean energy, hydropower, tourism, agriculture, information technology, manufacturing, and infrastructure. He encouraged UAE investors and businesses to explore Nepal’s emerging market and deepen commercial engagement for mutual benefit.
The programme also featured four thematic presentations covering Nepal’s trade and investment opportunities, tourism, renewable energy, commercial agriculture, infrastructure, information technology, herbal and pharmaceutical industries, e-commerce, innovation, and the digital economy. Organizers said the presentations provided participants with valuable insights into Nepal’s competitive advantages and the government’s efforts to create a business-friendly environment.
The Embassy expressed confidence that the programme would contribute to enhancing Nepal–UAE economic cooperation by encouraging greater investment, trade, and business partnerships between the two countries.
