KATHMANDU – Nepali footwear brand GEMS is set to make its mark in the Indian market by participating in the Footwear India Expo 2026, scheduled to be held at Pragati Maidan Exhibition Center in New Delhi from August 21 to 23, 2026.
Nepal Jutta Factory Pvt. Ltd., the manufacturer of GEMS footwear, will showcase its products at the three-day international expo, marking a renewed Nepali presence at the event after a long gap.
“Nepal’s participation in this expo has not been possible for a long time. This year, we are taking part with our own stall,” said Bikash Aryal, CEO of Nepal Jutta Factory.

The company has been manufacturing various types of footwear for the past 25 years. Besides finished shoes and sandals, it also produces compounds used in footwear manufacturing and supplies them to other industries and businesses.
According to Aryal, around 400 footwear manufacturers and businesses from India are expected to participate in the expo, providing Nepali manufacturers with an opportunity to connect with potential buyers, distributors and business partners.
The company sees its participation as a platform to introduce Nepali footwear quality, manufacturing capabilities and homegrown brands to the Indian market, while exploring opportunities for market expansion.
“Participation in an international expo of this scale will help us present the capabilities of Nepal’s footwear industry and create new avenues for business,” Aryal said.
With India being one of the world’s major footwear markets, the participation of GEMS could also provide a stepping stone for Nepal’s footwear manufacturers seeking to expand beyond the domestic market and build an international presence.
The company said such participation could also contribute to strengthening Nepal-India business ties by creating direct connections between manufacturers, suppliers, distributors and buyers from both countries. Increased business-to-business engagement could encourage cross-border trade, technology sharing and new investment opportunities in Nepal’s footwear sector.
