Kathmandu – The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) has started welcoming large groups of international tourists at Tribhuvan International Airport under the ‘Nepal Calling’ campaign launched by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation to promote Nepal as a safe and welcoming destination.
A group of 185 representatives from Bangladesh’s Walton Plaza arrived in Nepal and were welcomed by Tourism Board officials with traditional khadas and Dhaka topis at the airport. The welcome programme highlighted Nepal’s cultural hospitality and aimed to provide a positive experience for international visitors upon arrival. Another group of 30 members from Walton Plaza is scheduled to arrive on September 18.
The arrival comes amid concerns over negative perceptions regarding Nepal’s tourism safety following recent flood-related incidents in areas including the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river regions. The Nepal Tourism Board stated that the visiting Bangladeshi group found Nepal safe, tourist-friendly and ready to welcome international travellers.
The Tourism Board has been conducting promotional activities to rebuild confidence among international visitors and encourage more tourist arrivals by highlighting Nepal’s destinations, cultural experiences and natural attractions.
Meanwhile, a 133-member delegation from Sri Lanka is also scheduled to visit Nepal from September 17 to 20. The delegation will participate in annual general meeting-related activities and visit Kathmandu along with other tourist destinations.
Tourism officials said the arrival of large international groups reflects continued interest in Nepal as a travel destination and supports ongoing efforts to strengthen the country’s tourism sector. The ‘Nepal Calling’ campaign aims to promote Nepal’s tourism image and encourage visitors from different parts of the world.
