Kathmandu — Nepal is using the World Travel Market (WTM) London 2026 to promote its tourism destinations, expand international air connectivity and attract new investment into the tourism sector.
Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Khadga Raj Paudel ‘Ganes’ held high-level meetings with tourism officials and representatives from several countries during the three-day event, being held in London from November 3 to 5.
Paudel met India’s Minister of Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Sri Lanka’s Assistant Minister of Tourism Prof. Ruwan Ranatunga, and Indian Rajya Sabha member, author and social worker Sudha Murty.
The discussions focused on strengthening tourism cooperation, expanding air connectivity, increasing tourist arrivals, promoting cultural exchanges and creating greater opportunities for tourism investment and private-sector partnerships.
Paudel highlighted Nepal’s potential in international tourism and said stronger global partnerships could help generate economic opportunities, create employment and strengthen cultural connections. He also stressed the government’s focus on expanding air links and making Nepal a more competitive and attractive destination for international visitors.
At WTM London, Nepal is showcasing its Himalayan adventure tourism, cultural heritage, sustainable travel, spiritual experiences and wellness tourism. The country is also preparing to promote 2027 as the Nepal Wellness Tourism Year, with a focus on yoga, meditation, spirituality, mental well-being and nature-based experiences.
The Nepal delegation includes representatives from the Nepal Tourism Board, airlines, hotels, travel and tour operators and other private-sector tourism businesses. Nepal’s pavilion has been opened at the event, with 32 Nepali tourism companies promoting destinations, tourism services and products.
WTM London brings together tourism businesses, international travel buyers, media organisations and tourism service providers from around the world. Nepal is using the platform to explore new tourism markets, build commercial partnerships and expand its international tourism network.
Nepal is also promoting the message “Nepal is Open”, highlighting that major destinations including Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan, Lumbini, the Annapurna region and the Everest region continue to welcome visitors, while travellers are encouraged to follow local conditions and travel advisories.
Through its participation at WTM London and its high-level meetings, Nepal is seeking to increase international tourist arrivals while attracting investment and strengthening business partnerships across the tourism sector.
