Kathmandu – Nepal’s leading digital payment platform, eSewa, has introduced the country’s first digital wallet-based “Buy Now, Pay Later” (BNPL) service, allowing customers to purchase electric scooters through instalment payments.
The new feature enables users to purchase Gyro electric scooters directly through the eSewa platform without making a large upfront payment. Customers can choose the available instalment option and spread the cost of the scooter over a specified repayment period.
The service is designed to make electric scooters more accessible to customers by reducing the immediate financial burden of purchasing a vehicle. It also combines digital payments with flexible financing, allowing eligible users to complete the purchase process through the eSewa platform.
Through the initiative, eSewa aims to expand the use of digital financial services while supporting the growing adoption of electric mobility in Nepal. The partnership with Gyro also provides customers with a convenient digital channel to explore and purchase electric scooters.
The Buy Now, Pay Later facility is expected to provide an alternative payment option for customers who may prefer instalments over paying the full scooter price upfront. Users can access the service through eSewa, subject to the applicable eligibility criteria and terms.
