Lalitpur — Nuts & Scoop, a premium Italian-inspired gelato brand, has officially opened its outlet in Sanepa, Lalitpur, with Sanjay Agrawal, President of the Nepal–Italy Chamber of Commerce & Industry (NICCI), attending the inauguration as the chief guest on October 11.
Founded by Monica Taparia and Bipin Atal, Nuts & Scoop brings inspiration from Italian gelato-making traditions to Nepal, offering customers a selection of more than 20 flavours. The venture combines specialised equipment, premium ingredients, and professional training to introduce an Italian-inspired dessert experience to the local market.
The founders’ approach is supported by specialised training from Gelato University in Italy, reflecting their focus on product quality, research, and innovation. The brand aims to establish itself as a premium gelato destination in Nepal while continually refining its products through customer feedback and further professional training.
Speaking at the opening, NICCI President Agrawal welcomed the entrepreneurial initiative and highlighted the potential for stronger Nepal–Italy collaboration beyond traditional trade.
Agrawal has been advocating closer bilateral engagement between Nepal and Italy, particularly in trade, investment, business partnerships, tourism, and cultural exchange. He emphasised the value of ventures that introduce international expertise and craftsmanship to Nepal while creating opportunities for knowledge-sharing and stronger connections between the two countries.
The launch of Nuts & Scoop offers an example of how Italian culinary expertise can inspire local entrepreneurship and contribute to cultural exchange. By bringing Italian-inspired gelato craftsmanship to Nepal, the business seeks to combine international techniques with opportunities in the country’s growing food and hospitality sector.
The founders said they plan to continue improving their offerings through innovation, customer feedback, and additional professional training in Italy. The outlet reportedly welcomed more than 200 customers on its opening day, receiving an encouraging initial response.
With its launch in Sanepa, Nuts & Scoop aims to build its presence as a premium gelato destination while promoting entrepreneurship and cross-cultural collaboration between Nepal and Italy.
