Nepal Academy Chancellor Kumar Nagarkoti attended the event as a special guest, according to Dr. Roshan Sherchan, the Academy’s member secretary. The programme aimed to introduce Nepali literature to Chinese readers and strengthen literary and cultural ties between the two countries.
The translated titles are Mahakavi Laxmi Prasad Devkota’s essay collection ‘Laxmi Nibandha Sangraha’, Bhishma Upreti’s ‘Himalaya, Sherpa ra Yeti’, Dhruba Chandra Gautam’s ‘Alikhit’, Sarubhakta’s ‘Chuli’, Dr. Raju Adhikari’s ‘Yasto Hos Jeevanshaili’ and Sulochana’s ‘Jeevanbata Jeevan Sikau’.

The launch is part of a bilateral book translation and publication agreement signed on 25 September 2023 between Nepal’s Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation and China’s National Administration of Press and Publication. Under the project, 25 Nepali books are to be translated into Chinese and 25 Chinese books into Nepali.
On the same occasion, Chancellor Nagarkoti held talks with Sichuan Vice Governor Hu Yun on exchanges in art, literature and culture. Tang Haitao, chairman of Sichuan Fine Arts Publishing House, also took part in the meeting.
Organisers expect the project to widen the international reach of Nepali literature and deepen cultural understanding between Nepal and China.
