Pokhara — The Mardi Himal Trek is drawing trekkers during Nepal’s peak autumn trekking season, with clearer skies offering impressive views of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail Mountain) and the surrounding Annapurna range.
The trekking route, located north of Pokhara, is known for its mountain scenery, forest trails, traditional settlements and high-altitude viewpoints. The trail gradually climbs from lower forested areas toward Mardi Himal Base Camp, offering increasingly close views of Machhapuchhre along the way.
The trail also offers views of the Annapurna South and Hiunchuli, two prominent peaks of the Annapurna range. Their snow-covered slopes add to the panoramic mountain scenery visible from higher sections of the Mardi Himal route.
Machhapuchhre is one of the most recognisable mountains in the Annapurna region. Standing at about 6,993 metres, its distinctive double summit is particularly prominent from the Mardi Himal trail and remains one of the route’s major attractions.
The autumn months of October and November are among the most popular periods for trekking in Nepal. Following the monsoon season, clearer weather often provides better mountain visibility, while cooler conditions make trekking more comfortable.
The Mardi Himal route has become popular with both international and domestic trekkers, particularly those looking for a shorter Himalayan trekking experience from Pokhara. Along the route, local teahouses, homestays, guides and transport providers benefit from the seasonal flow of visitors.
The trek also offers more than mountain views. Trekkers pass through rhododendron and mixed forests, hillside villages and open mountain ridges, experiencing changing landscapes as they gain elevation.
The photograph captures trekkers moving along the Mardi Himal trail with Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South and Hiunchuli rising above the surrounding landscape. The scenery highlights the appeal of the route during Nepal’s autumn trekking season.
As the autumn season continues, the Mardi Himal trail is expected to remain active, with trekkers taking advantage of favourable conditions and clear views across the Annapurna landscape.
