Five decades of partnership: ADB and Nepal’s energy evolution highlighted in photo exhibition
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has unveiled a week-long photo exhibition at the Nepal Art Council, Babarmahal, to commemorate over five decades of collaboration with Nepal in the energy sector. The exhibition, from December 3 to 9, was organized in partnership with the Photojournalists Club Nepal.
The event was inaugurated by Purna Bahadur Tamang, Minister for Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, alongside Arnaud Cauchois, ADB Country Director for Nepal, and other distinguished figures.
Minister Tamang expressed gratitude for ADB’s instrumental role in transforming Nepal’s energy landscape. At the same time, Cauchois highlighted achievements such as the expansion of hydroelectric power, enhanced electrification, and the development of renewable energy sources.
The exhibition showcases milestones in generation, transmission, and distribution, illustrating how ADB’s support has bolstered Nepal’s energy sufficiency and export potential. Notable projects include the Khimti and Kali Gandaki “A” hydropower plants and ongoing initiatives like the 140 MW Tanahu Hydropower Project.
Visitors can explore the progress achieved in Nepal’s energy sector through a visual narrative divided into four thematic sections: Generation, Transmission, Distribution, and Beyond the Meter. The exhibition will move to Janakpur from December 12 to 18.
