Auspicious Dates for Dashain Tika Announced
Kathmandu – Dashain is Nepal’s biggest festival, symbolizing the victory of good over evil. Families gather nationwide to receive tika and jamara blessings, and the government typically announces public holidays to coincide with these dates.
The Nepal Panchanga Nirnayak Bikash Samiti, under the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, has published the official auspicious dates and times for this year’s Dashain festival (Bikram Sambat 2082).
According to the committee’s notice, the important dates are as follows:
- Ghatasthapana: September 22 (Asoj 6), Monday – auspicious time 11:13 a.m.
- Shailaputri Puja/Chandra Darshan: September 23 (Asoj 7), Tuesday – auspicious time 6:18 p.m.
- Shardiya Navaratri/Shripanchami Yatra: September 27 (Asoj 11), Saturday
- Phulpati: September 29 (Asoj 13), Monday – Phulpati entry at 11:57 a.m.
- Maha Ashtami & Kalratri: September 30 (Asoj 14), Tuesday
- Mahanawami: October 1 (Asoj 15), Wednesday
- Bijaya Dashami (Tika): October 2 (Asoj 16), Thursday – Tika time 11:02 a.m. (best to receive blessings starting from this time)
- Tulaja Bhawani Yatra & Rituals: Same day from 12:29 p.m.
- Kojagrat Purnima: October 6 (Asoj 20), Monday
The committee requests devotees across the country to observe these times for their family rituals and community celebrations. Chairperson Prof. Shyam Prasad Dahal signed the official schedule of the Dashain Festival.
