July 31, 2016: Dipak Ratna Bajracharya has won the IME-Global-IME Nepal Photo Contest 2073. The image captured by him during the last year's earthquake was announced the IME-Global-IME Photo of the Year 2073. He was awarded Rs 100,000 for capturing a live happening during the 2015 April earthquake. The contest was organised by the Photo Journalists (PJ) Club.
Similarly, the photograph taken by Navesh Chitrakar won the title of Shikhar Insurance Nepal Smiles whereas Naresh Shrestha's photograph bagged the first prize in IMS Daily Life. Likewise, Ramesh Kumar Poudel and Dinesh Shrestha received first prizes of Nepal Telecom Nature and Wildlife and Culture and Tourism respectively. Furthermore, Surbindra Kumar's photo was announced first for Model Visa Consultancy Sports. Similarly, in the Photo Story category Nabin Baral won the first prize.
According to the organiser, 6,670 photographs were received for seven categories of the contest throughout the country. Around 160 photos selected from final round will be exhibited in Kathmandu, Biratnagar, Dharan, Sauraha, Bhairahawa, Pokhara, Nepalgunj and Dhangadi after they are announced as winners. The photographs will be exhibited in Nepal Art Council, Babarmahal, Kathmandu from August 31 to September 6.
As per the organiser, the contest was organised with the major sponsorship of IME and Global IME Bank and collaboration of Model Global Visa Consultancy. Nepal Tourism Board promoted the contest and categorically sponsored by IMS, Arghakhanchi Cement, Shikhar Insurance, RJ Sports and Nepal Telecom. The contest was supported by BP Koirala Nepal-India Foundation, TAAN, Adventure Sports, Nepal Airlines, Vianet Dishhome, Raika Tours, ANFA, CTV Mobile and BOOM International.
