Domestic Airfares Increase Following Surge in Aviation Fuel Prices

Kathmandu-Domestic airfares in Nepal have increased after a sharp rise in aviation fuel prices. According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, the minimum and maximum fares on several routes have been revised.
The fare for the Kathmandu to Dhangadhi route has now reached a minimum of NPR 14,457.40 and a maximum of NPR 23,059.50. Previously, the maximum fare on this route was NPR 15,565.
Similarly, the Kathmandu to Mountain route now ranges from NPR 11,342.80 to NPR 18,026, while the Kathmandu to Bhadrapur route has been set between NPR 9,989.20 and NPR 15,837. Earlier, the maximum fares were NPR 13,765 and NPR 12,105 respectively.

The price hike comes after Nepal Oil Corporation increased aviation fuel prices effective today, raising the rate per liter from NPR 124 to NPR 251.
Following the fuel price surge, airlines have also significantly increased fuel surcharge fees. On the Kathmandu to Dhangadhi route, the surcharge has risen by NPR 5,480, from NPR 5,610 to NPR 11,090.
