Kathmandu – The fourth batch of emergency relief supplies provided by China arrived at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu on Tuesday afternoon aboard a Y-20A transport aircraft of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Air Force.
Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Zhang Maoming and Nepal’s Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation Mahabir Pun attended the handover ceremonyat the airport.
The latest shipment includes rescue hovercraft, stainless-steel permanent-magnet flood pumps, spare batteries, mortuary freezers and solar-powered lights.
The equipment was selected according to Nepal’s urgent requirements following the recent devastating floods. The specialised rescue and drainage equipment is expected to strengthen operations in areas affected by flooding, debris and damaged infrastructure.
The solar-powered lights will support operations in locations facing electricity disruptions, while the mortuary freezers will assist authorities in the dignified management and identification of victims.
China has delivered several batches of emergency assistance to Nepal as rescue, relief and recovery operations continue across disaster-affected areas.
