FWEAN meets Prime Minister Balendra Shah to discuss Women Entrepreneurs
Kathmandu: The Federation of Women Entrepreneurs’ Associations of Nepal (FWEAN) has presented a series of policy recommendations to the Government of Nepal, calling for stronger support to improve the business environment for women-led enterprises and accelerate women’s economic empowerment.
The FWEAN delegation, led by President Darshana Shrestha, met with Prime Minister Balen Shah to discuss key issues affecting women entrepreneurs across all 77 districts of Nepal. The delegation also included First Vice President Sunita Vaidya Shrestha, Third Vice President Mahalaxmi Shrestha, General Secretary Sabita Subedi, Secretary Dikila Lama, and Executive Member Anuza Rajbhandari.
During the meeting, FWEAN highlighted the need for policies that improve access to finance, expand market opportunities, strengthen business development services, and create a more supportive environment for women-owned businesses. The organization also emphasized the importance of promoting women-led enterprises as a key driver of Nepal’s economic growth.
Prime Minister Shah expressed his commitment to creating a more business-friendly ecosystem for women entrepreneurs and supporting the promotion of the “Made by Women Entrepreneurs of Nepal (Ma Udhami)” trademark as a national identity for products created by women-led businesses.
According to FWEAN, the discussion reflected a shared commitment to increasing opportunities for women entrepreneurs while recognizing their growing contribution to employment generation, local economic development, and national prosperity.
The organization stated that the recommendations presented during the meeting represent the aspirations and challenges of thousands of women entrepreneurs across the country, many of whom continue to face barriers in accessing finance, markets, and business support services.
FWEAN reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the Government of Nepal and other stakeholders to translate these policy discussions into practical initiatives that strengthen women-led enterprises and promote inclusive economic growth throughout the country.
