The flagship SUV has been introduced at a starting price of INR 27.99 lakh, while the top-end variant is priced at INR 40.19 lakh.
The new Sorento is based on the facelifted fourth-generation MQ4 platform and is being offered in six variants — HTE, HTE (O), HTK, HTK (A), HTX and HTX (A).
One of the major highlights of the SUV is its strong-hybrid powertrain. It combines a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine with an electric motor. The petrol engine produces 180 horsepower and 265 Nm of torque, while the electric motor delivers 65 horsepower and 264 Nm of torque.
The hybrid setup is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and is available with both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations.
Kia is also offering the Sorento with a 2.2-litre diesel engine producing 193 horsepower and 442 Nm of torque. The diesel powertrain is paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The SUV offers four driving modes — Normal, Eco, Sport and Smart — along with Snow, Sand and Mud terrain modes for varying road conditions.
In terms of design, the new Sorento gets LED headlights, Y-shaped LED daytime running lights, dual LED fog lamps and a silver skid plate at the front.
Other exterior highlights include 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, roof rails, L-shaped LED taillights and dual exhaust tips, giving the SUV a more premium and rugged appearance.
The Sorento measures 4,815 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width and 1,785 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,815 mm. Buyers can choose between six-seat and seven-seat configurations.
Inside, the SUV features a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system along with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
Premium equipment includes a 12-speaker Bose audio system, panoramic sunroof, head-up display, dual-zone climate control, wireless smartphone charging and powered tailgate.
Kia has also equipped the Sorento with an extensive list of safety technologies. These include 10 airbags, a 360-degree camera, digital rear-view mirror, automatic parking assist, front and rear dashcams, tyre pressure monitoring system and Level 2+ ADAS.
With its combination of hybrid and diesel powertrains, premium cabin technology and advanced safety features, the new Kia Sorento is positioned as a strong contender in India’s premium three-row SUV market.
