NADA and Traffic Police discuss Enforcement against unauthorized black tinted glass in vehicles
Kathmandu: The NADA Automobiles Association of Nepal has held a discussion with the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office regarding the removal of unauthorized black tinted glass and dark films used in vehicles.
A delegation led by NADA President Surendra Kumar Upreti met Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office Chief Suresh Prasad Kafle to discuss the issue in detail.
During the meeting, Traffic Police Chief Kafle said vehicles with black tinted glass have been found being used in different criminal activities. He said the Traffic Police Office is preparing to remove unauthorized black glass from vehicles in line with the provisions of the Vehicle Management Act, 2049.
Kafle also said vehicle users are not allowed to place black films, stickers, or any obstruction on the front windshield. He urged vehicle importers to inform buyers about this legal provision while selling vehicles.
He further stated that vehicle owners who want to use black tinted glass must obtain mandatory permission from the government. He also requested automobile importers not to import vehicles with black glass directly from manufacturing companies without proper approval.
NADA President Upreti suggested that the enforcement process should begin with the removal of black stickers or films, as these can be removed without major technical difficulty.
NADA’s immediate past president Karan Chaudhary said vehicles that come with factory-fitted black glass from automobile manufacturers could be handled in the next phase. He added that the number of such vehicles is not very high and can be identified before further action is taken.
NADA Vice President Abhik Jyoti was also present during the discussion.
The meeting reflects growing coordination between automobile importers and traffic authorities as Kathmandu Valley moves to control the use of unauthorized black tinted glass in vehicles.
