Kathmandu – Nepal and Cyprus may sit far apart on the map, but on Tuesday the two countries found time to talk about what connects them. Cyprus’s non-resident Ambassador to Nepal, Evagoras Vryonides, paid a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Singha Durbar.
The meeting focused on Nepal Cyprus relations, with the two sides discussing various areas of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
For Minister Khanal, one issue stood out. He raised concerns about Nepalis living and working in Cyprus, a reminder that for many families back home, diplomacy is ultimately about the people abroad.

The two also discussed working together for mutual benefit in multilateral forums, where small countries often gain more by standing together.
Though Cyprus does not have a resident embassy in Kathmandu, regular visits like this help keep the relationship active, and keep the concerns of Nepalis in Cyprus on the table.
