Nepal PM Balendra Shah Meets ADB President Masato Kanda, Reaffirms Commitment to Development Partnership
Kathmandu: Prime Minister Balendra Shah held a courtesy meeting today with Asian Development Bank (ADB) President Masato Kanda, reaffirming the two sides’ commitment to further strengthening their six-decade-long development partnership.
During the 30-minute meeting, both leaders expressed their shared commitment to deepening cooperation between the Government of Nepal and the ADB. According to Prime Minister Shah’s Press and Research Adviser, Deepa Dahal, the Prime Minister emphasized that Nepal is poised to achieve a new phase of development through good governance and greater transparency.
The discussions focused on advancing hydropower and tourism as the twin pillars of Nepal’s economy, while also exploring collaboration in digitalization and tourism-related road infrastructure.President Kanda reiterated the ADB’s commitment to expanding its development assistance to Nepal, stating that the bank would remain a long-term partner in supporting the country’s economic growth and prosperity.
He also praised Nepal’s significant economic potential, strong public mandate, and emerging young leadership, reaffirming that the ADB would continue to stand by Nepal in its journey toward sustainable development and success.Kanda further described Nepal’s young leadership and its commitment to reforms as inspiring, underscoring the ADB’s confidence in the country’s future.
