Nepal Rastra Bank Issues New Rs 500 Banknote from Today
Kathmandu-Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has introduced a new Rs 500 banknote into circulation starting today. According to a notice issued by the Currency Management Department, the note retains the same size, color, and overall design as the existing version.
The front side of the banknote features an image of Mount Everest, a rhododendron watermark, and two tactile black dots that enable visually impaired people to identify the denomination by touch.
The oval-shaped image of Kuber located to the right of Mount Everest appears golden when viewed directly and turns green when tilted. Similarly, the security thread changes from red to green when the note is tilted.The reverse side of the banknote carries an image of a Royal Bengal tiger. The new note also bears the signature of Governor Bishwo Nath Poudel.
