Nepal Welcomes International Lifestyle Hotel Brand TRIBE in Budhanilkantha
Kathmandu: Nepal’s tourism industry is set to enter a new international chapter as globally renowned hospitality group Accor brings its modern lifestyle hotel brand TRIBE to Kathmandu’s Budhanilkantha area. The project, being developed in partnership with Hotel Sabrina Limited, marks the first-ever TRIBE hotel in South Asia. The arrival of the internationally recognized brand is being viewed as a major milestone for Nepal’s tourism sector, especially at a time when global hotel chains are increasingly showing interest in the country’s growing hospitality market. Industry experts see Accor’s entry into Nepal through the TRIBE brand as a strong sign of international confidence in Nepal’s tourism potential.
An official agreement for the hotel’s construction and operation has already been signed between representatives of Hotel Sabrina Limited and TRIBE under the Accor Group. The signing ceremony has been described as a historic achievement for Nepal’s hospitality industry. The hotel, named TRIBE Kathmandu Budhanilkantha, is scheduled to open by 2029 and is expected to redefine Nepal’s modern tourism landscape. The project is being led by Hotel Sabrina Limited Chairman Nirajan Thapa.According to Thapa, tourism remains the strongest pillar of Nepal’s economic future, and the project aims to position Nepal as a world-class hospitality destination.
“Nepal is one of the most naturally beautiful countries in the world. We have mountains, culture, spirituality, and biodiversity. Despite such immense potential, we have not yet presented Nepal to the world through world-class tourism infrastructure. Bringing an international brand like TRIBE is part of our vision to transform Nepal into a premium tourism destination,” Thapa said.He added that modern travelers are no longer looking for just accommodation but meaningful experiences. TRIBE’s concept focuses on contemporary design, social interaction, local culture, comfort, and international-standard service tailored to the preferences of new-generation travelers.Thapa emphasized that his team is not new to the hospitality industry and expressed confidence in the project due to their experience and strong management capabilities.
“We have years of experience operating hotels. Our Nepali team is highly experienced, and our international partner brings even greater expertise. Collaborating with a globally respected group like Accor has further strengthened our confidence,” he said.
He also noted that TRIBE Kathmandu Budhanilkantha would not simply be a hotel but a new lifestyle destination for Kathmandu, offering guests a blend of modern luxury, cultural experiences, and international ambiance.Directors Smriti Palikhe and Sanjita Gurung Thapa also highlighted tourism as Nepal’s long-term economic foundation.Palikhe stressed the importance of increasing private-sector investment in tourism.
“Nepal has enormous tourism potential. This sector can create jobs for millions of young people, attract foreign currency, and strengthen Nepal’s international image. That is why we have expanded our investment in tourism,” she said. She further explained that improving international-standard infrastructure and services would encourage tourists to stay longer and spend more in Nepal.Similarly, Sanjita Gurung Thapa said modern travelers now seek complete lifestyle experiences rather than just hotel rooms.
“Today’s travelers are searching for experiences comfort, design, culture, cuisine, social atmosphere, and digital convenience all in one place. TRIBE is designed to meet the expectations of this new generation of travelers,” she stated.Once completed, the hotel will feature more than 100 modern guest rooms, an international-standard restaurant, specialty bar, swimming pool, spa, fitness center, and around 800 square meters of event space. The choice of Budhanilkantha as the project location is also considered strategically important. The area has recently become increasingly popular among foreign tourists for its peaceful environment, greenery, upscale residences, and proximity to religious and cultural attractions.
With easy access to Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, and Shivapuri National Park, Budhanilkantha is emerging as a new tourism hotspot for visitors seeking tranquility close to Kathmandu’s urban center. The hotel is expected to particularly attract digital nomads, long-stay travelers, wellness tourists, and spiritually inclined visitors.Globally, Accor is regarded as one of the world’s leading hospitality groups, operating brands across luxury, premium, and economy segments. Tourism entrepreneurs believe the arrival of a modern lifestyle-focused brand like TRIBE will help position Kathmandu as one of South Asia’s emerging lifestyle travel destinations.
Industry observers also view the project as a significant achievement for Nirajan Thapa and his team for successfully bringing such a prestigious international brand to Nepal. As Nepal continues to gain attention for adventure tourism, spiritual travel, wellness tourism, and digital nomad culture, TRIBE Kathmandu Budhanilkantha is being seen as an ambitious project closely linked to the future of Nepal’s tourism industry.“Tourism is not just a hotel business it can become the backbone of the national economy. We are not only constructing a building; we are building confidence in Nepal’s tourism future,” Chairman Thapa concluded.
