KATHMANDU: Nepal welcomed 71,775 international tourists in July 2026, marking a 2.3 percent increase compared to the same month last year, according to the latest figures released by the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB).
The data shows that India remained Nepal’s largest source of visitors, with 23,490 arrivals, accounting for 32.73 percent of all international tourists during the month.
One of the strongest highlights was the sharp increase in visitors from China. Nepal received 11,099 Chinese tourists in July, representing a 61.09 percent year-on-year increase compared to 6,890 arrivals in July 2025. The figure also exceeded the pre-pandemic level of 10,215 Chinese visitors recorded in July 2019, reflecting an 8.65 percent growth over pre-COVID numbers.
The United States ranked as Nepal’s third-largest source market with 7,754 visitors, followed by Bangladesh (4,179), the United Kingdom (3,773), and Australia (2,428).
Regionally, SAARC countries contributed the largest share of visitors, with 29,755 tourists, making up 41.46 percent of total arrivals. However, this represented an 11.93 percent decline compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, arrivals from other Asian countries increased significantly by 33.05 percent, reaching 17,424 visitors, driven by strong growth from China, South Korea, Malaysia, Japan, Vietnam, Singapore, Myanmar, and Thailand.
Europe remained another important tourism market, contributing 9,279 visitors, while 8,824 tourists arrived from the Americas. Nepal also welcomed 2,607 visitors from Oceania, 736 from the Middle East, and 324 from Africa during the month.
The latest figures indicate a steady recovery in Nepal’s tourism sector, with strong growth from key international markets—particularly China—helping strengthen the country’s post-pandemic tourism momentum and supporting the government’s efforts to attract more international visitors.
