Nepalbhasa added to Google Translate, celebrated as a historic milestone
The Newari community is celebrating a major victory today as Nepalbhasa is added to Google Translate. This achievement marks the culmination of over three years of tireless work by individuals across the globe.
Sanyukta Shrestha, President of the World Newah Organization said in a press release on Thursday that the Nepalbhasa has been released on Google Translate.
Shrestha said “Today is a historic day for the Nepali community. After more than three years of continuous efforts by many people around the world, Nepalbhasa has finally come to Google Translate. The invaluable gift to the community is a very high level of translation accuracy, and it will only improve from now on.”
Sunita Dangol, Deputy Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, shared a post expressing her excitement about testing the translation of Nepalbhasa to English using Google Translate. She also congratulated all Nepali people on this significant achievement.
The introduction of Nepalbhasa to Google Translate brings numerous benefits. Texts written in Nepalbhasa can now be translated into more than 60 languages. The entire web page can now be translated into Nepalbhasa. Tourists traveling to Nepal can easily read any signpost or information written in Nepalbhasa using Google Translate and any tool based on it.
“The World Newah Organization is in discussion with the International Standardization Organization (ISO) to change the name of Nepalbhasa (Newari) to ‘Nepalbhasa’ only”.
