Non-Emergency Hospital Services Suspended Nationwide on Tuesday Following Assault on Doctors

Kathmandu-Doctors across Nepal will suspend all non-emergency hospital services on Tuesday in protest against the assault of medical professionals at Narayani Hospital in Birgunj.

The protest follows an incident on July 25 (Shrawan 9), when doctors and healthcare workers at Narayani Hospital were allegedly attacked after the death of a patient.

In a statement, the Nepal Medical Association announced that all hospitals across the country will provide only emergency services on Tuesday. The association said the protest is against what it described as the state’s failure to protect doctors and healthcare workers from violence.

During the incident, Dr. Pramod Ram sustained a head injury after being assaulted. The Nepal Medical Association has demanded the immediate arrest of those involved and called for strict legal action against the perpetrators.
