KATHMANDU — A 30-day photography and photo-video journalism training jointly organised by Kathmandu Metropolitan City and the Film Development Board concluded with 35 participants receiving certificates.
The programme provided practical instruction in photography, videography, camera operation, photo editing, visual storytelling and news presentation.
Film Development Board Chairperson Dinesh Raj Dahal, also known as Dinesh D.C., said practical training of this kind helps strengthen the professional skills of journalists and photojournalists. He added that producing trained visual-media professionals could support film production, promotion, documentation and archiving, and said the board would continue cooperating with Kathmandu Metropolitan City on similar initiatives.
Trainer Raj Bhai Suwal said photography and videography are fields that require continuous learning, observation and regular practice. He described the programme as a positive beginning for participants seeking to build professional careers in visual storytelling.
At the closing ceremony, Acting Mayor Sunita Dangol encouraged the trainees to use their skills for employment, self-employment and the promotion of Kathmandu’s cultural, historic and tourism sites.
Film still photographer Manjul Kumar Shrestha and senior film poster designer Sundar Shrestha were also honoured with cash awards of Rs. 35,000 each.
