Kathmandu – Royal Enfield has officially launched the new Himalayan 440 in India, celebrating 10 years since the introduction of the original Himalayan adventure motorcycle.
The new Himalayan 440 has been launched at a starting price of INR 229,000, with bookings opening from September 4, 2026.
Positioned below the Himalayan 450, the new model offers riders a more affordable entry into Royal Enfield’s adventure motorcycle lineup while retaining the rugged character of the original Himalayan.
The Himalayan 440 is powered by a 443cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, long-stroke engine producing 25.4 bhp of power and 34 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox, designed to offer improved performance during highway cruising and long-distance touring.
The motorcycle features a 41mm telescopic front fork with 200mm of travel, while the rear uses a link-type monoshock with 180mm of travel.
For off-road capability, the Himalayan 440 comes equipped with a 21-inch front wheel and 17-inch rear spoke wheel, along with 220mm of ground clearance.
The bike also receives several modern features, including an LED headlamp, digital-analog instrument cluster, Tripper Navigation system and USB Type-C charging port.
Braking is handled by a 300mm front disc with a two-piston caliper and a 240mm rear disc. The motorcycle comes with dual-channel ABS, while the rear ABS can be switched off for off-road riding.
The Himalayan 440 has a seat height of 800mm, a 15-litre fuel tank and weighs around 199 kg.
Royal Enfield is also offering a range of accessories for touring and adventure riding, including panniers, a top box, touring seat, handguards and engine protection equipment.
With its familiar Himalayan styling, improved engine, practical touring features and competitive pricing, the new Himalayan 440 is expected to appeal to riders looking for an affordable and capable adventure motorcycle.
