Step Up for Change: 5K Fun Run/Walk 2025

Kathmandu, Nepal – [March 4, 2025] Higher Ground Nepal is thrilled to announce the return of the highly anticipated 5K Fun Run/Walk scheduled for Saturday, March 22nd 2025, at 6:30 AM at St. Xaviers Ground, Jawalakhel (South Gate). This community-driven event celebrates women from all walks of life, empowers them to find their voice, and raises support for impactful social programs for marginalized women and children.

Embracing the 2025 theme “Accelerate Action,” the 5k Fun Run/Walk is an all-inclusive event that encourages both men and women to come together to run, walk, or wheelchair race. The event expects to see over 2,000 participants, including runners/walkers and volunteers. In addition to the 5k run/walk, the event offers a range of activities such as Zumba sessions by Titan Gym Fitness, a children’s play area, face painting, and stalls by women entrepreneurs. The event will also feature a musical performance by Blind Rocks. Registration fee is Rs. 500. Participants will receive an event t-shirt, a medal, and snacks.

Since its inception in 2015, the Fun Run has attracted over 7,000 participants including more than 4,000 women from diverse backgrounds. Proceeds from past events have funded life-changing initiatives such as marketable skill training for women at risk of trafficking and abuse. This year, the proceeds from the run will go towards scholarships and women empowerment programs.

Our Goodwill Ambassadors are Ms. Rashila Tamang and Ms. Nirmala Bhandari. Ms. Rashila Tamang started her running journey through our event in 2015. Now, she is a renowned trail runner who became the first Nepali to win an Asia trail master in 2023. Rashila is the co-founder of Trailmandu and a board member of the Manjushree Trail Race, contributing significantly to the promotion of trail running in Nepal. Nirmala Bhandari is an athlete and advocate for disability rights through Nirmala Foundation. Despite being an above-knee amputee, she has been recognized as a UN Inspiring Woman in 2018, SWO YATRA 2019 winner, and Miss Disability Queen Nepal 2024. Her passion lies in traveling, exploring new places, and promoting inclusive sports.
